Fuelling a dune weekend

on the sand.
Arrive full
Treat the last station before you turn off as your last station. A busy holiday Saturday is not the moment to discover you needed another twenty gallons, and the queue will not help.
Two fills, not one
Budget the tow rig and the machines separately. People routinely plan for the truck and forget that a weekend of riding can burn as much again across quads, bikes and a sand rail.
Carry spare properly
Approved containers only, secured and upright, never loose in a tow vehicle. Fuel every machine before you stage rather than halfway through the afternoon.
Keep a return reserve
Set aside what it takes to get everyone back to camp and the rig back to a pump. Running a machine dry a long way out turns a good day into a recovery.
